BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim first stepped up on the Met Gala carpet and stairs on Monday, May 1. She looked glorious as ever in a white mini-dress that Karl Lagerfeld had originally designed for Chanel’s fall/winter 1990 collection.
Jennie, one of Lagerfeld’s final hand-selected models for the house of Chanel, collaborated with Vogue for a bts (behind-the-scenes) video on the following day, where she is seen getting ready and discussing the inspiration for her gorgeous ensemble resonating with Met Gala’s theme of “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
The BLACKPINK superstar revealed that her haircut, a long, straight style pulled away from her face with her hair braided into a headband and a flower pin, tributes to her Korean culture. She put on minimal and natural makeup with a wash of pink and glittering shadows and a matte complexion. “The inspiration for my hair was, we wanted to bring a little of our Korean culture, and this braided hair reminded us of Korean Jeon-tong look, and of course, the camellia for Karl and the classic Chanel.”
She complemented her look with slick black opera gloves, black tights, and a hefty choker. She made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala just a few weeks after performing at Coachella 2023. Her attendance at the Met Gala turns up only a few weeks later she with her group BLACKPINK made history by becoming the first Korean to headline Coachella last month.
The video below shows Jennie’s preparation for the 2023 Met Gala with Vogue.
