As part of the annual Isle of MTV Malta celebration, MTV took over Malta’s famed Il-Fosos Square. Co-headliners OneRepublic and Alesso, Tom Grennan, Mimi Webb, and special guest Delta Goodrem performed for thousands of people. Local performers The Busker and Kevin Paul also took the stage.

OneRepublic had the audience singing along to their huge tunes “Apologise,” “Runaway,” and “I Ain’t Worried” before showering them with confetti during the legendary “Counting Stars.”

Alesso, the multi-platinum producer and DJ superstar performed a high-energy, special-effects spectacle that included several of his global dance classics, such as “Calling (Lose My Mind),” “If I Lose Myself,” and the upcoming track “Call Your Name,” which features John Newman.

With his singles “Found What I’ve Been Looking For,” “How Does It Feel,” and “Little Bit of Love,” singer-songwriter Tom Grennan added soft vocals to the perfect sundown programme.

Mimi Webb had just gotten the entire square dancing with her tracks “House on Fire” and “Red Flags” the night before.

Delta Goodrem made a special performance, bringing her best hits to the Isle of MTV Stage, including “Innocent Eyes,” “Lost Without You,” and her new single “Back To Your Heart.”

Island superstars The Busker and Kevin Paul kicked off the celebration earlier in the evening, which delighted Maltese fans.

Isle of MTV Malta, Europe’s largest free event, is organised in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority. The programme allows fans to watch spectacular performances by some of the world’s biggest singers, with prior performers including Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, and Martin Garrix.

The event will be televised on MTV in more than 150 countries on September 15, 2023, introducing the festival and Malta to millions of music enthusiasts worldwide. The programme was also streamed live on Pluto TV in select overseas regions and will be accessible on-demand later this year on Paramount+.

The festival is followed by Isle of MTV Malta Music Week, a series of club nights and parties at the island’s trendiest venues that runs through July 23rd.
