Horan and Gina Miles spoke to PEOPLE on Tuesday night following their selection as The Voice season 23’s winning team.

Reflecting his thought on the victory of Gina Miles Niall Horan told People, “Can you imagine being 19 and winning the biggest TV show in the country? I’m so proud of this girl. I always had a deep down feeling.”

Horan added, “This girl is beyond gifted. There’s a tone in there that is, as I’ve always said, unmistakable and you know it’s a Gina Miles song when you hear it — that’s going to be the case down the line. I couldn’t believe it when Carson [Daly] threw her name out of his mouth.”

He concluded by saying, “I couldn’t believe it. At that stage at any point, it’s one in five chance that anyone could win it here at this point. Gina Miles. She did it.”

Gina Miles is the winner of The Voice. On Tuesday night, when the second half of the singing reality programme finale aired, the 19-year-old vocalist won the winning crown. Team Niall Horan member Gina defeated the other four competitors to take first place.

After her winning she interviewed, “couldn’t think I was going to win, so I was just having a really good time and laughing and not crying — and then now I’m crying.”

She further told about her experience and called it, “really weird and exciting — I’m really grateful.”

In the wake of her show’s blind audition, Gina decided to become Niall Horan her coach. Gina performed stunning performances of Taylor Swift’s Style and Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U on the opening night of the season 23 finale.

Gina and Grace West were the final contestants, and the former was declared the victor. The winning margin was the narrowest in the history of the singing reality programme, according to host Carson Daly.

As part of the show’s climax, Miles made one final appearance on stage and joined Horan in singing Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind”.

“I’m going to live it up no matter what happens because to me it’s not about winning it’s just about the experience as it’s come along”, she said.

She also added. “I want to be living my best life.
