Zayn Malik has dropped his first new single in almost two years.
The former One Direction member released his comeback single ‘Love Like This’ on Friday (21.07.23), his first release through his new label Mercury Records, coupled with a video that shows him driving through New York City on a motorbike as he pursues a love interest.
The song is his first new release since his 2021 album ‘Nobody Is Listening,’ and it is expected to be the lead single from his fourth album.
Zayn’s past releases include ‘Mind of Mine’ in 2016 and ‘Icarus Falls’ in 2018.
The singer had stated that his new songs will be distinct from his past releases. He revealed on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, “I’ve got a few really sad ones [songs], yeah. “It’s a different sound for me, and it has more story elements, such as real-life situations and such.”
He has previously spoken about dealing with performance anxiety and has yet to headline a large solo concert since quitting the boyband, but he has hinted that he may be ready to return to the stage.
“I’m still very nervous now because it’s been a few years since I’ve been on stage,” Zayn added. But I have this enthusiasm to like, I feel like I have something to offer, and I want to get back on stage. To have that feeling.”
